Rochdale 1 Manchester United 4

Dale bowed out of the LFA Cup at the hands of Manchester United as rampaging young Brazilian Fabio Da Silva grabbed a hat trick and striker Danny Wellbeck added the 4th.

The home side took the lead on 10 minutes when, following a short corner Joe Reidy rose the highest to head home a Kallum Higginbotham cross.

On 21 minutes the impressive full back Fabio De Dilva was upended in the box by Chris Brown but fired the resulting penalty wide.

The Brazilian made up for his miss 5 minutes later though firing home the rebound after Sam Russell had done well to parry a Rodrigo Possebon effort and gave his side the lead on 41 minutes converting a close range effort after rampaging forward for the umpteenth time.

Early in 2nd half Fabio grabbed his 3rd as substitute keeper Danny Taberner reacted brilliantly to keep out an Oliver Gill header but could nothing with the follow up volley.

Wellbeck added the 4th midway through the 2nd half as he strolled through the middle and finished clinically.
