Oldham born youngster Will was spotted at Hopwood Hall College where he was a student having been released by hometown club Oldham Athletic after spending time at their Centre of Excellence.
Will was offered a late scholarship at Spotland but with his potential becoming increasingly obvious he was, almost immediately given a professional contract. He was involved in several first team squads including coming off the bench at Wembley in the 2007-8 Play Off Final.
Having been injured at the beginning of the 2008-9 season Will made a big impact when he came into the side winning a series of penalties as well as scoring in successive games against Rotherham United, Chesterfield and Accrington Stanley. Having been watched by a host of clubs throughout the campaign Will ended the season with a highly creditable 11 goals to his name and is certainly a player earmarked by many for a big future.
