A product of Oldham Athletic's excellent youth system, Kallum joined the club at the end of his scholarship and was given a full time contract after impressing the staff in games played against them for his former club.
A real livewire winger with a terrific turn of speed and shot, he is definitely regarded as one for the future by the coaching staff at Spotland, and was a regular member of the side that reached Wembley in the 2008 Play Off final.

Having lost his place in the early stages of the 2008/9 season, Kallum was allowed out on loan to Accrington Stanley, but marked his return to the Dale side with a late goal in the 3-1 win over Stanley at the turn of the year. Kallum again joined Stanley for two months in 2009, but return to the Dale side in the 1-0 win at home to Port Vale. However, he was to pick up an injury in this match which would rule him out of Dale's Play-Off campaign.
