Matt is a right-back who was recruited on a month's loan from Macclesfield in the first week of last season to cover for illness and injuries.
The 21-year old, who broke into the Silkmen's team early in 2008/09, did so well in his first few games at Spotland that the move was soon made permanent and he signed a two year contract with the club.
