James became the first new signing of the summer of 2007 when manager Keith Hill brought him to Spotland from home town club Stockport County.
Having made his first team bow at the tender age of just 16 James attracted a lot of attention during his early years at Edgeley Park but having made 117 first team appearances he fell out of favour with new manager Jim Gannon.

An excellent shot stopper and still very young for a goalkeeper he is sure to benefit from the family atmosphere generated at Spotland and will be looking to kick start his career.
