Rochdale head south again this weekend following their superb showing in the Carling Cup at Birmingham City on Thursday night to take on Brentford in League One.
Three games in the space of just six days is a heavy workload for manager Keith Hill's small squad and he most certainly will juggle his pack over the next couple of games. Dale came through Thursday's game without picking up any knocks or injuries and following a restful night in Birmingham the team boarded the coach for the trip to Brentford on Friday afternoon.
Joe Thompson was ruled out of Thursday's clash through illness and is described as doubtful for Saturday's encounter so it could mean a first league start for Man City youngster Andrew Tutte who impressed at St. Andrews in the Carling Cup.
Another debutant on the night was Celtic loanee Josh Thompson who also did enough to give manager Keith Hill food for thought as he ponders his starting eleven for Saturday especially with the Johnstone's Paints Trophy encounter against Port Vale coming three days after the weekend's game.
Anthony Elding continues to gain match fitness and he is being pressed by Frenchman Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro for the starting berth up front so competition for places is good and should keep everyone on their toes in the coming days.
A repeat of the scoreline from early November 2008 when thanks to two first half goals from Rory McArdle and Will Buckley saw Dale ride out winners against Brentford would be more than welcome especially as it would Dale's first league win on the new campaign.
Brentford will be going into this one themselves looking for their first win in the League after gaining just one point from their opening three games in the league. However, Brentford will be buoyed by the midweek Carling Cup success over Championship side Hull City at Griffin Park winning 2-1 after falling behind in the sixth minute.
Manager Andy Scott is another boss with some thinking to do ahead of the game with Rochdale after seeing his side produce their best display of the season as they edged through to the third round of the Carling Cup.
Scott made two changes to starting eleven for the game against the Tigers and although Reading loanee goalkeeper Alex McCarthy will be available for selection once again after he was ineligible in midweek, debutant stopper Richard Lee, who signed on a free from Blackburn in the summer, could again don the latex following a more than impressive debut between the sticks.

Former Dale loanee Nicky Adams looks likely to start after being rested on Tuesday night.Veteran striker Carl Cort is back to fitness and will be looking to be in the managers' reckoning though two players who definitely won't be included are midfielders Sam Wood and Kirk Hudson both ruled out through injury.
