Dale Captain Gary Jones insists that although it would be "sweet" to do the double over local rivals Bury, securing three points with a "big performance" is just as important.
Jonah is certainly no stranger to the big occasion having made 13 derby appearances during his career, and in an interview with Dale Player an upbeat Jonah admits he still gets a buzz from derby day: "Bury is a massive game for us, not just a massive game because it's a derby, it's a massive game because we need the three points. We're going into the game full of confidence. The gaffer has said you need to start believing in yourselves, and hopefully we can get a positive result."
He continued: "It's a derby game, you always like to put one over on your rivals. But I think it's more important that we focus on getting the three points."
With no win since November for Rochdale, Jones is hoping Dale's next victory will come sooner rather than later: "I think football is about momentum. If we can get a result on Saturday there is no reason why we can't go to Charlton full of confidence. I think belief is all about winning games. Winning is a habit, losing is a habit, but hopefully we can change it round with a big performance and three points on Saturday."
And with the weekend's derby taking place at Spotland, Jonah is hoping the Dale faithful can be the twelfth man: "I know the fans will be up for it, and we will definitely be up for it, so we need the fans support. We need them to be behind us and I think they will, so I hope we can put on a good performance for them."
