Keith Alexander

Like many, Rochdale Football Club was shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Keith Alexander early on Wednesday morning.Tributes from every corner of the football world have been heard and the wearing of black arm-bands by the England team for Wednesday nights' friendly with Egypt prove his standing in football.

Dale manager Keith Hill joined those tributes to Macclesfield boss Keith Alexander on Wednesday and said,

"He was certainly one of football's characters and I'm genuinely gutted to hear about his passing at such a young age.

"He was the most honest man I've ever met in football, he was kind and generous and has given me plenty of help and advice over the years.

"Keith helped Rochdale Football Club out when he was kind enough to loan us 'keeper Tommy Lee and he's a big loss to football. He was a stand out gentleman."

Assistant manager Dave Flitcroft echoed Keith Hill's thoughts by adding,

"Keith was a man who lived for football and it was very sad to hear the news he'd passed away.There is rivalry but it's with a huge amount of respect and both myself and Keith had a massive amount of respect for him.

"On behalf of myself, Keith, the players and supporters of Rochdale AFC I'd like to pass on our condolences to Keith's family and friends."

The club we be holding a minutes applause before kick-off in celebration of the life of Keith.
