Dale have signed Macclesfield central defender Matt Flynn on-loan for a month.

The 20 year old joins to provide competition and cover at the back in Keith Hill's thin squad.

The Warrington born defender stands at six foot, and made 28 appearances for Macclesfield last season under boss Keith Alexander. Flynn made the step up from the Youth Team at Moss Rose to the first team at the end of the 2006/2007 season.

He appeared against Dale at Spotland last season where Macclesfield came away with a 1-1 draw after a late Nat Brown equaliser.

He made appearances at centre back, full back, and in midfield last season at Moss Rose.

Flynn will go into the squad for Saturday's game at home to Aldershot.
