Quotes from Bradford City manager Stuart McCall in Bradford's local paper Telegraph and Argus surrounding the signing of Simon Ramsden have somewhat 'disappointed' Dale manager Keith Hill. In the article it say McCall rubbished Hill's claim that the offer from City was far more than Rochdale could match.
In the report (click here) The Bantams boss said: "I thought we'd missed out on signing him and someone else had come in when I heard the comments from Rochdale.
"We offered Simon exactly the same as them. In fact it's possibly less because while it's a two-year deal, he's got to play a certain number of games this season.
"He fits exactly in the wage structure that we have in place and we're delighted to have him."
However those quotes have been flatly rejected by the Rochdale manager. Hill said, "Simon and I are very good friends and we have a great relationship, he has no reason to lie to me. He has told me the deal he got from Bradford and he wasn't offered the same money by us.
"I don't know what Stuart McCall is doing whether he is hiding behind a propaganda vehicle or something. My guess is that he has asked players to take a cut in wages and he is using the money to bring in players like Rammers. The figures I have been told will mean Simon will get a hefty pay rise in comparison to the one he was on here.
"The truth is he has gone to Bradford and he is being paid more money. Simon Ramsden is looking after his own financial future and you cannot knock him for that, but for McCall to come out and say he is on the same money, well it is not the case."
