Season review for Ladies
Dale's last game of season was cancelled due to Peter lee's coach breaking down en route. As the season had to finish on the 4th May there was no opportunity to complete the fixture.
Dale therefore ended up third in a very competitive league. It was good for such a young side and if somebody offered this at the start of the season it would have been accepted gladly.
However, we can press on knowing that a strong challenge for the next season is for sure. Dale need to add to the squad for next year to add strength in depth, losing Rachel Morris who played at centre half to a serious injury was a severe blow. But young Katie Wood stepped in to cement a regular place and alongside Capt Claire Pearson with left back Nicola Ireson and right back Lizzie Baird Dale's defence looked strong all season.
But Dale's keeper Lauren Bracewell was fantastic she grew in confidence and pulled off some great saves. The midfield of Susie Wells, Siobhan McElhinney, Rachael Wood and Lisa Wood always had the opposition on the back foot, with goals coming from all concerned. Up front Steph Bell was missing for most of the season due to an injury but played in later stages. Young Robyn Finc a great all rounder fitting in as striker and defence when required.
But Dale's oldest player Sue Perry( or was that most experienced ) was joint top goal scorer with Dale's dynamo Sarah Buffel with 13 goals each.
