Ladies back with a bang
After a break of nearly four weeks due to fixture mishaps and the bad weather Dale finally got on the pitch, but the long break certainly told on them with Boro starting the better and the home side did not create a single attempt on goal for fifteen minutes. But against the run of play Dale scored Susie Wells found Steph Bell in space and Bell hit a long ball to spilt the Boro defence which found Rachael Wood who timed her run and went clean through to score.
But a spirited Boro nearly drew level and the home keeper had to come to the rescue more than once. Dale had a lucky break as the Boro centre forward beat the defence and was through on goal a tackle from behind by Captain Claire Pearson brought down the attacker on the edge of the box, which resulted in a yellow card for Pearson. The resulting free kick went over the bar by inches.
After the break and some sharp managerial words Dale looked more in the mood. This time it was Boro pinned back. A great move started by Siobhan McElhinney at last back saw Rachael Wood beat her marker and put a precision pass into oncoming Lisa Wood who slotted home, but a dubious offside decision ruled the goal offside.
This spurred on the Dale and again a super pass from McElhinney found Rachael Wood who ran towards goal and hit a thunderous strike giving her a second goal, now Dale looked on top of there game. Sue Perry made way for Robyn Finc who scored with her second attempt on goal, Boro's heads went down as Dale mounted further attacks. Boro's young keeper had to retire and with an outfield player going in net this meant more space for Dale to exploit. Sarah Buffel and Susie Wells worked hard in midfield Buffel came close to scoring on a few occasions, but again Rachael Wood provide the cross for almost carbon copy of the disallowed goal as Lisa Wood blasted home a sweet strike making 4 nil to Dale
