Keith Hill spoke to Dale Player after the Johnstone's Paint Trophy game at home to Bradford about the match, his side's performance and what he saw as a poor refereeing display.
"I'm really disappointed, but if I'm telling the truth I'm more disappointed with the referee's decisions and his standard of refereeing than I am the performances," Keith said. "Their goal came from a free-kick which should never have been in my opinion, because Chris Dagnall should have been awarded one at the other end, but his standard of refereeing was not acceptable for a match at this level."
Keith named a strong side despite the competition not meaning much to him and his side, but as Keith says, it is Friday's trip to Morecambe that he is more concerned about.
"With respect to our preparations for Friday this match has been more of a hindrance if I'm being honest. Gary Jones has picked up a bit of a virus and the loan players couldn't play, so it doesn't create the same sort of enthusiasm as a league match would."
Keith handed a start to his assistant Dave Flitcroft against Bradford and the boss happy with his right-hand man's performance and explained his reasoning for picking Flickers in the middle of the park.
"I was really pleased with Flickers' first half performance in particular. I didn't think it was the right sort of game for a youth player, plus they've got to earn the right to play in the first team. At the end of the day we've lost a football match, but it's a football match that means nothing to me if I'm being perfectly honest."
