"It's good so far. The tutors are good at passing on their experience, and the knowledge from other students is great too, such as Paul Tisdale, Roberto Martinez and Paul Hart. I'm probably one of the most experienced managers on the course, but one of the least experienced coaches. Everyone is there as they want to be educated, but it is quite daunting at times when you consider that there's managers on that course that have been much more successful and have experienced a lot more than myself. It's good though that they can learn as much off me as I can off them."
"One of the stats on the course is that on average a manager spends 1.49 years at a club in the FL. There is no patience, and it's an indication of why so many ex-players and coaches are taking the management courses, because they know opportunities like this one will arise. The only thing a manager is really judged on is the 3 point situation. There is a statistic that first club managers who don't succeed don't always get a second opportunity, so you really have to be successful in the first job to give yourself opportunities later on, and those opportunities will become less and less if you're not successful. You need to be successful to survive, as there's always someone willing to step in, so it gives you an edge to keep yourself above the rest. The word patience should be taken out of the dictionary, as it just doesn't exist!"
"The younger managers in the game need to gain the experience from the likes of Sam Allardyce, they can provide great mentors. They've experienced what I've experienced. They have a lot of valuable experience and can help to prepare me for less successful times. At the end of the day, managers are responsible, and a manager's performances are based on the results they can pick up on a Saturday and a Tuesday."
With regards to any more transfer activity the manager had this to say
"We've got a 19 man squad including Clark Keltie. We'll look to bring trialists in during pre-season, and if that doesn't happen we'll bring in some of the youth teamers and give them their opportunity, as we are a club that gives opportunities to younger players, but the players need to take those opportunities in order to develop. There are no outgoings and I don't expect there to be."
