It is a major move for me because I was at Darlington from the age of 18 but the opportunity arose for me to come here and having played against Rochdale it was obvious that there was a feel good factor around the club. There is a really good bunch of lads and I was quite looking forward to coming here.

Its ironic that my last game for Darlington was here at Rochdale and to be honest when I scored the penalty I thought that we had one foot on the way to Wembley. It was a great feeling at the time having been at Darlington for so long but all I can do now is apologise for it to the Rochdale fans!

Obviously I have now watched the likes of Gary Jones and Ciaran Toner in training and have played against them on many occasions and am looking forward to making a midfield unit with them. Gary Jones is obviously a real hard worker with ability and a big heart and along with Ciaran and myself we have 3 players who I feel will do a job in there.

In fairness it was probably time for me to move away from Darlington and I spoke to my agent and the assistant after the Play off games and they agreed that maybe it was time to move on. Players can get stale being at the same club for so long but I am now relishing the challenge here. There is a great buzz around the place and I just want to be part of it.

Sam Russell was an influence on my coming here. He contacted me not long after the Wembley game and said that the manager was quite keen on me. I asked him what the club was like and how the lads were and he spoke very highly about the place and his positiveness about the place did have a bearing on my decision.

I have been in a hotel for the last few days but the right thing is to move down here. Travelling down from the north east every day would take its toll during the course of the whole season. I will move to the area and I just want to be part of it now. Lets get going!
