Dale's Football in the Community team ran a special tournament recently to coincide with the World Cup linking up with the On Target project running through a successful bid with the Football League Trust and Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF)
Twenty teams turned up at The Soccer Factory on 9th July at under 13's and under 16's age groups with ORB Boys beating KFC in the younger group and Thailand FC beating Naddal Youth in the older group.
The On Target project has evolved with £40,000 attracted over two years to deliver an estates programme providing enjoyable, diversionary football activities for youngsters in the estates surrounding Rochdale AFCi.e Spotland, Greave, Sudden and Brotherod.
Weekly sessions take place at the Club's 5-a-side Complex and Soccer Factor on Fridays and Saturdays between 5.00 - 8.00pm attracting over 150 people since the inception in July last year.

Although essentially a coaching/leagues activity, Junior Football Organiser courses have been organised for interested attenders, who are now assisting as volunteers with Rochdale AFC Football In The Community Staff
The aims of the project are:
* improve the opportunities that the older participants have to act as volunteers
* provide accredited training in football organisation to the older participants
* provide diversionary and positive activities for all participants
* help raise the aspirations of participants
* signpost both further qualifications and possible employment possibilities in sport to the
participants including Rochdale AFC Football in the Community
Although the project is for those of all abilities some have be invited to the club's Centre of Excellence whilst others have been signposted to Junior Clubs in Rochdale.
