Recently, in conjunction with Manchester Metropolitan University through Catherine Campbell, Football in the Community Trust ran a course at the Club with Lee Murphy (Lancashire FA)
Twenty one lads between 14 - 19yrs attended attaining the JFO accreditation, these being part of the homework incentive scheme at Heywood Community High School and Wardle High School through funding from the Manchester Metropolitan University, this scheme proving extremely successful over the three year period.
Course aims and objectives:
To provide an understanding of leading and organising football events for young players
To learn the theory and practical aspects of warming up and cooling down
To understand safety considerations when organising football sessions
To understand practical delivery aspects of sessions, planning and using resource cards
To introduce mini-soccer games/rules
To understand what happens next for players and leaders
I would like to thank Ryan McLay and pupils from Meanwood Primary School for helping us out with assessments for the candidates, who all passed the award with distinction.
Also, during the afternoon, we had a visit from Paul Rowen MP for Rochdale, who took time out to speak to the group. We will be organising a presentation of the JFO certificates at half time during aforthcoming match when they arrive from FA headquarters.
