Edwards Decision Yet To Be Made

31 December 2012

Assistant Manager Jimmy Bell has revealed that a final decision has yet to be made on whether or not Ryan Edwards will remain at Spotland once his loan spell comes to an end.

The 19-year-old defender, who has been on loan at Rochdale from Championship side Blackburn Rovers since July, will play the final match of his current spell on Tuesday against Rotherham United.

Ryan has featured in all but one of Dale’s fixtures during his time at the club and only missed out on the FA Cup replay against Morecambe due to suspension.

“Ryan is a young lad who has learnt his trade and he gives his all for the cause," said Bell. "Sometimes he makes little mistakes due to naivety, but he’s the type of player who you want in your team as he gives his all for the club.”

It has been no secret that Manager John Coleman wishes to strengthen his squad once the transfer window opens, and Bell says they'll do that wisely: “We are looking for more experience in the back four and if the right players are available then we will bring them in, but we won't bring in players just because they are available if we don’t think they’ll benefit Rochdale."
