Crewe Alex: Preview

19 August 2014

Rochdale are back on the road on Tuesday evening for their second away trip in three days.

Keith Hill’s side are in action at Gresty Road, as they take on Crewe Alexandra in a Sky Bet League One encounter.

Hill has several injury worries heading into the game, with Josh Lillis (ankle), Skipper Olly Lancashire (groin), Matty Lund (shoulder) and Scott Tanser (knee) looking likely to miss the match.

Jack Muldoon, who has returned to training following his groin injury sustained at the start of pre-season, is highly doubtful as continues to work to build his fitness.

Hill has moved quickly to draft in a goalkeeper after ahead of the fixture, with Conrad Logan joining Dale on an emergency loan deal from Premier League side Leicester City.

Crewe will be without Harry Davis (knee), Ryan Colclough (hernia) and Fraser Murdoch (knee).

Dale head into the match following Saturday’s defeat to Chesterfield, a game in which Lillis, Lund and Tanser were forced off due to injury.

In his post-match interview, Hill commented: “The good thing about football is that it’s a 46 game season.

“If that was a last game of the season fixture and we lost here in that manner and got relegated then I’d be deeply disappointed for a long, long time, but the reality of the league is that I’ve got another game on
Tuesday and the players that I’ve got available will represent Rochdale Football Club.

“If the effort levels are there and they’re doing everything they possibly can, then I certainly can’t chastise them.

“Tuesday is another opportunity – every game represents an opportunity and we’re looking forward to it.

“I’m still very optimistic with the players that we’ve got and I’m still trying to get at least two players in, whether I get that opportunity before the Crewe game, I’m not too sure.”
