Pitch To Benefit From Lights Seized By Police

23 October 2014

Heat lamps seized by local police in raids on cannabis farms are being used to give the Spotland pitch an extra bit of tlc.

The lights have been donated by Rochdale police after they were approached by Head Grounds man, Oli Makin, who was keen to use the confiscated equipment to build a lighting rig.

Usually seen in the Premier League and at elite Championship clubs, the lighting rig will help to keep the playing surface in a tip top condition during the winter months.

To keep costs at a minimum, Oli has built the rig using old five-a-side goal posts and will predominately use it in the goal mouth and tunnel areas.
