Pitch Update 15.01.13

15 January 2013

Grounds staff prepared

Covers were laid on the Spotland pitch on Tuesday afternoon to help protect the playing surface from the predicted drop in temperatures.

The covers have been placed on top of the snow which fell on Monday, and this acts as a double insulator against the temperatures which are set to fall below zero over-night.

These will remain on until Thursday morning and the Grounds staff, who are doing everything possible to make sure Saturday’s game against Gillingham goes ahead, will then begin to lift them off in order to start clearing the snow.

Fans are assured that the playing surface is currently soft under the snow.

The Grounds staff are set to stay long into the night on Thursday and Friday to shift the snow and re-apply the covers, and they would appreciate any extra pairs of hands. Volunteers are welcome at Spotland throughout the day and in the evening.

We would like to thank you for your continued support.
