Lund: No Hesitation

21 June 2013

Dale’s preparations for the new season continued on Friday with the addition of a second recruit in as many days.

Matty Lund followed Ashley Eastham in committing his future to the club and he says he needed no persuading to join Team Rochdale.

“I spoke to the manager yesterday and I liked his plans for the club,” Lund told Dale Player. “As soon as I spoke to him I realised that we could have a good relationship working together. His plans for the club are good and I want to take that forward and do well for the club.

“I saw Rochdale play a couple of times last season and I like the way he plays football and the style of it, I think it will suit the way I play.”

Lund, who is based in the North West, spent time out on loan at Bristol Rovers and Southend United last season from his parent club Stoke City and he admits the chance to be settled is a big plus for him.

“It is local for me and it is good to get settled somewhere now. It means I can focus on playing for one club and really cement my place in the team and try my hardest to keep that position.

“I’ve been doing six month loans here and there but for me I need to say settled, that’s key. Being closer to home helps a lot so I’m delighted to be here, it is a good club and I’m happy with the set up.”
