Lillis' Knee Niggle

15 July 2013

Goalkeeper Josh Lillis is expected to miss at least two of Dale’s upcoming friendly matches after having an injection in his knee.

Lillis carried a niggling knee problem for much of last season and received treatment at the end of the campaign in preparation for the new season ahead. He's had a further injection since returning for pre-season.

Manager Keith Hill explains more: “Josh had a niggling knee injury for the majority of last season and he had an injection once the season had finished. I was assured this would have settled everything down and he would have been able to do a full training programme but within a week of coming back for pre-season there has been a slight soreness to his knee.

“He has been to see the specialist and after having another injection he has been recommended to do progressive training. The progression will hopefully culminate in him being involved possibly against Macclesfield Town next Tuesday, but most definitely against Preston North End. If not, I will maybe have to look at alternatives."

Trialist 'keeper Robbie Thomson is likely to continue in net for Dale’s next two friendly matches.
