Injury update...
Manager Keith Hill has confirmed that Matty Lund and Reuben Noble-Lazarus have returned to training.
It had been hoped that Calvin Andrew would return to full training today [Friday] but he has been unable to do so. Andrew has been sidelined since sustaining ligament damage in February but it was hoped he could return to training ahead of schedule after making good progress in his recovery.
Hill told Dale PlayerHD: “We’re probably down to one major injury and one suspension, so things are looking good.
“Matty Lund is back on the training pitch. He trained well yesterday, as did Reuben.
“Calvin hasn’t had a set-back but he hasn’t progressed as well as we expected [in the last week]. He was in front, if you like, but now he’s on level terms.
“He’s choosing his days when he can train. It’s slowly, slowly, but we have got other options.
“We’ve got Nyal Bell who can come back into the equation and we’ve got other options off the bench. Dave Syers hasn’t played for a while and he’s waiting in the wings to get another opportunity - there are plenty of opportunities.”
Ian Henderson will miss Dale’s next four games after being sent off in Monday’s League 1 fixture against Wigan Athletic. Hill admits he’ll be a miss but says the squad is strong.
“He’s a threat to the opposition, so when the opposition see a team a sheet without Ian Henderson on it they think we’re weaker, but we’re strong.
“We’re strong as a unit and we’re strong as a football club.
“We’ve already got our points on the board that we need to maintain our league one status, but there’s more to play for.
“It’s a very tight league this season and we’re looking at the seven games as opportunities - all the players are.
“We haven’t seen any let up in training this week. We’ve had good recovery from the Wigan game and we’re going into the Doncaster game firing on all cylinders and very confident without being complacent.”
