Hill: We've Got An Unbelievable Opportunity

2 May 2014

The already promoted Rochdale head to Newport County’s Rodney Parade this Saturday and it’s still all to play for in terms of the championship, with Dale still in with a chance of clinching the Sky Bet League Two title.

Keith Hill’s side are currently joint top of the division, second only on goal difference to Chesterfield.

League One awaits next season, but Manager Keith Hill is solely focused on the weekend’s game at Newport.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, he told Dale Player: “The plan is to be successful at Newport. It’s [winning the title] certainly the aim but whatever happens, what we’ve achieved this season shouldn’t be diluted.

“We’ve got an unbelievable opportunity this weekend, but having said that, fair respect to Newport. They’ve had an excellent first campaign back in the league.

“We’ve got to be respectful of Newport and we’ve got to be respectful of Scunthorpe and Chesterfield. Who’s to argue that any one of the three would deserve to go up as the Champions.

“But we’ve got to focus on Saturday’s game. The season isn’t over yet, and we’re hoping to go there and put in a really good performance, which will hopefully merit and reward us with three points. Equally, Justin Edinburgh and Newport need to be congratulated on the season that they’ve had.”
