Hill: It was Resolute

2 December 2013

Manager Keith Hill spoke to Dale Player following Saturday’s hard fought goalless draw at York City’s Bootham Crescent…

“It’s a performance that shows we’re capable of sustaining our challenge at the top end of the table,” said Hill.

“I said at the beginning of the season that I believe we’ve got a chance of maybe getting in the top seven, but as the season progresses the players believe they’ve got a chance of maybe getting in the top three. I’d be reasonably happy with a top seven and I think that performance today showed that we’ve got a decent squad - the players who have come in have done excellent. Even although it wasn’t pleasing on the eye, with respect to it being free flowing champagne soccer, it was resolute and we did get our chances, especially in the second half, to go on and win it."

He continued: “I’m really pleased, it’s testament to the squad that we’ve built and the players that came in that we can come here, we can keep a clean sheet and we can still remain in a position where we’re going to be challenging.

“I’m pleased that we’re going into the FA Cup with a clean sheet, I’ve got Olly Lancashire and Jack O’Connell back available, so I’m really pleased on where we are.

“I keep sensing a little bit of disappointment and I don’t see any, I really don’t. I see a vision for the football club, I see a vision for the rest of the season with the players that we’ve got and they’re all capable. They’re good players, they’re good lads, they’re honest and we’ve got an honest result here today so I’m really pleased about that.”
