Hill Praises Endeavour & Honesty

31 March 2014

Manager Keith Hill has praised the hard work, the endeavour and the honesty of his players following Dale’s draw with Fleetwood Town at the Highbury Stadium on Saturday.

The game brought an end to a busy March, during which Rochdale lost just one game.

Speaking to Dale Player after the match, Hill commented: “We’ve had eight games in March and we’ve averaged two points a game. In those eight games we’ve had five on the travel and to lose one game, draw two and win five is superb. It’s testament to the players and their hard work, their endeavour and their honesty.

“I’ve just told every single one of them to enjoy their weekend, to go mad and do whatever they want because it’s been a really, really hard month. All those miles including today that we’ve done are bearing dividends and I’m really pleased for the players because they stuck to task.

“Today was a difficult game and I’ve got to compliment Fleetwood because they were excellent in the first half, but the majority of the second half belonged to us. We were on the front foot but I think overall it was an even contest in a game where you couldn’t really call who was going to win it. I’m very, very happy to get that point, which still averages us two points a game from what we consider to be the business end of the season, which is 20 games onwards.”
