Hill Pleased With Kennedy Contract Extension

30 June 2015

Manager Keith Hill believes Tom Kennedy’s decision to extend his stay at the club offers both the club and the player stability.

The 30-year-old put pen to paper on a new two-year-deal on Monday and Hill is delighted to have him on board for the next two seasons.

“I’m pleased and I’m pleased for Tom as well,” Hill told Dale PlayerHD.

“This time of the season is a difficult time for players who are out of contract. If a contract is offered then the majority of the time you would recommend that the players sign on the dotted line. There was a little bit of negotiation obviously, but I’m glad we got to where needed to.

“If you look at the last twelve months, then it was a difficult time for him. It was a broken season for him last season, but at least he’s got some stability now, as have we.

“And we know what we are getting with Tom. We’ve got an experienced player and a very good player with a quality left foot.

“He’s a leader as well within the changing rooms, so I’m pleased with every aspect that he’s actually committed. It gives him a little bit of security and us as well.”

The full interview is available to view on Dale PlayerHD.
