Hill: Trust, Belief and Patience

1 March 2013

Hill is looking to repeat past successes

Manager Keith Hill has today set out his aims for the future and is calling on supporters to continue to be Dale’s twelfth man for the remaining 12 games of this season.

“My intention is to remain at this football club and make sure that we regenerate the type of success that we’ve previously brought to the club, but it is not going to happen over-night,” said Hill.

“We’re in a different situation to the one we were in when I first came to the football club and that’s where I’m expecting trust, belief and faith from our supporters. I came to the club with an open mind and I want to achieve, I want to build and I want to be successful with Rochdale Football Club and I’ll be more than willing to stay here for at least two seasons.

“It is my intention to build and if I do eventually leave, I want to make sure that the foundations that we’ve built aren’t ripped away. I think there has been a lot of lessons learned, but it is a question of re-building and it is not just about this season, it is about making sure that we can make an impact for the football club for the future. We’ve also got to address the right here, the right now and the games that we’ve got remaining.

“I’ve got a very good squad of players that I feel as though we can improve with one or two additions and we are going to have to be brave over the next 12 games. That bravery will include everybody at the club and the supporters because we’re not the same team as we were 18 to 24 months ago.

“I’d encourage as many fans to come and support the team. We’re trying to create a new identity – Rochdale 2012/13 - and it is important that they trust the Board of Directors, the Chairman, me as a manager , the coaching staff and the players – the players that I pick to represent them. We’ll progressively get better and then we’ll be creating a team in the image and the identity of the supporters.

“I will work as hard as I can to give supporters what they want but they have got to trust me, they’ve got to believe and ultimately they’ve got to be patient.”
