Hill & Hendo Nominated For Monthly Awards

8 April 2015

Keith Hill and Ian Henderson have been short-listed for the Sky Bet League One Manager and Player of the Month awards for March.

It follows an impressive month for Dale where they won five out of their seven fixtures, keeping their play-off push alive.

Hendo scored five times during March, taking his tally for the season so far to 18 goals.

THE NOMINEES – MANAGER OF THE MONTH

Keith Hill (Rochdale)
It was all or nothing for his Dale side in March – mostly all, with five wins in seven games a testimony to Hill’s attacking principles and desire to look for the victories which have hoisted his team into the Play-Offs picture.

Steve Cotterill (Bristol City)
Another hectic month saw Cotterill lead City to silverware at Wembley while not skipping a beat in their promotion charge. They collected 14 points from six games, scoring at least two goals in five of their six games.

Lee Johnson (Barnsley)
Johnson’s impact at Oakwell has been extraordinary, lifting a relegation-threatened side into Play-Off contention with 12 points from six unbeaten games, including draws against the top two. Has his Tykes playing with freedom again.

Dave Robertson (Peterborough United)
A superb first month as a manager. Robertson concentrated on making Posh harder to beat, as three clean sheets testify. In the process he guided them back towards the League 1 Play-Offs with four victories in six games.

THE NOMINEES – PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Ian Henderson (Rochdale) – striker
Whether intelligently laying on chances for others from out wide, or delightfully rounding the keeper in the 2-1 win at Notts County from a central position, Henderson’s game is all about elegance. Oh, and he scored five goals in March.

Billy Clarke (Bradford City) – midfielder
Clarke pulled the strings in March playing just behind James Hanson and Jon Stead. Elusive for defenders, he set up others with clever passes and found time to score both goals against Oldham Athletic.

Aden Flint (Bristol City) – central defender
The third nomination of the season for an outstanding defender whose three headed goals in the month took his season’s tally to nine. As a centre back, he also contributed to three clean sheets in six games and scored an early Wembley goal to set City on their way to Johnstone’s Paint Trophy glory.

Daniel Johnson (Preston North End) – midfielder
Three game-changing goals from central midfield, including a sumptuous strike at Fleetwood Town, tell only part of the story of his dynamic month. Driving forward at every opportunity, he created space aplenty and chances for others.
