Hill: Defence Is A Priority

4 June 2013

The work continues for Manager Keith Hill despite being out of the country on a family holiday.

Hill has been in regular contact with his Assistant Chris Beech and Chief Executive Colin Garlick during his break and he admits it has been a busy time.

“The work hasn’t really stopped,” said Hill. “It has been a working holiday for me, especially this week. I was due to be back this week but I had to push my holiday back due to the unforeseen circumstances of my son getting chicken pox.

“We’ve done a lot of work so far and I’m pleased with the progress we've made."

He continued: “After receiving notification from Phil Edwards’ agent that he won’t be accepting a new contract, we are pursuing other options. This is now a priority but I’m not going to panic and I’m not in a rush because there are some very good centre halves out there but they’ve got to be the right calibre for me.

"It's a position that needs strengthening because if you look at the goals against record last season it was superior to the goals that we scored so we've got to address that balance otherwise we won't be successful.

“I’m trying to recruit two central defenders - one of experience and one of relative experience."
