Hendo: So, So Pleased!

19 June 2014

Ian Henderson signed a one year extension to his current contract on Thursday afternoon, committing himself the club until the summer of 2016.

The 29-year-old fans favourite spoke to Dale Player shortly after putting pen to paper.

He is delighted to have signed the extension and thanked fans for their support throughout his time at the club.

“It all came after the incredible promotion winning season that we had. I spoke to the Manager and we agreed on a one year extension to my contract and I’m more than delighted to have signed it,” said Hendo.

“I know it has taken a little bit of time but as you can imagine there was so much excitement at the end of the season, players departing off on their holidays, and I’ve literally only got back into the UK yesterday after having such a fantastic time and enjoying the promotion. I spoke with the Manager and he asked me to come down to sign the contract and I’m so, so pleased to have signed it.”

Henderson admits he is settled at the club and in the North West, and says that's down to the Manager, the people at the club, and the fans.

The Manager [has played a big part in my decision]. He brought me in and he and his staff, the players, and most importantly the fans, have grown to like me as a person and as a player and you can’t but help feel good, feel satisfied and keen to keep on having that same feeling. And the North West is an incredible part of the country – I always say to people when I go back down South that one of the things I notice is that people say hello to you. You don’t necessarily get that in the South. The people have been so warm, friendly and so inviting to me and I’m ever so grateful for that.”

The fixtures for the forthcoming season were announced on Wednesday morning and Hendo is looking forward to Dale's League One campaign.

“I spoke to the Manager about two minutes after they were released and he was super excited for Peterborough and Preston. Our goal now is to get back in pre-season. We come back in on the 27th for fitness
testing and on the 30th we hit the ground running, so we’ll be working extremely hard and we’ll come up with a plan of what we need to do to get us to our next destination.”
