Hendo Commits Future To Dale

30 May 2013

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce that Ian Henderson has agreed to extend his stay at the club.

The 28-year-old has signed a new two-year-deal, effective from July 1.

Henderson has been at Spotland since the end of February following his departure from Colchester United and quickly established himself in Manager Keith Hill’s plans during the remainder of the 2012/13 campaign.

He made 12 appearances for Dale and netted three times for the side with his goals coming against Wycombe Wanderers, Exeter City and Fleetwood Town.

Assistant Manager Chris Beech is delighted that we have been able to secure his services: “To get Ian on a two-year-deal is fantastic. What he brings to the football club in terms of his physicality, his running ability, his goal scoring attributes and his professionalism on a daily basis will only aid and help us a team. He is also a great mentor for the younger players who will be around the squad next season.

“I have no doubt that Ian had other options but Keith, myself and the rest of the staff work hard at building relationships with these players. Ian enjoyed his time here and I’m sure that has played a big part in his decision.

“Ian, along with many other players, has bought into where we want to take this Football Club and full credit must go to the Chairman and the Directors for supporting our actions because the club has secured a very good player.”
