Heartache For Futsal Team

Heartache for Dale’s Futsal Team in Sky’s Soccer AM Cup finals day at Copper Box Arena.

Dale’s Futsal team suffered heartache on Sunday as they exited the Soccer AM Cup at the semi-final stage following a 3-1 defeat to Reading.

The opposition had previously won all fourteen of their matches in the South West Division of the National Futsal League and were deservedly pre-match favourites to lift the coveted Trophy, which they went on to do after an 11-6 win over Sheffield United in the final of the competition.

Keith Hicks, Head of Dale in the Community, commented: “It has been an absolute pleasure seeing the scholars progressing through each round and into the last four of this prestigious competition involving Premier and Football League Clubs.

“For the Year 13 players, it’s a fantastic way to finish their studies before they embark on their future career paths, with some leaving us for University. For the younger lads, it’s an incentive to progress further next year.

“Credit goes to all of them for their commitment in our training sessions and games during the FLT/Futsal campaign this season.

“I was proud as punch with the way the lads performed and conducted themselves through-out the day at the Copper Box Arena. They were a real credit to Rochdale AFC.”

Watch out for clips from the finals day at the Copper Box Arena on Soccer AM this Saturday.
