Done: I’ve Loved Every Minute At This Football Club

3 February 2015

An emotional Matty Done has spoken to Dale Player about his move to Sheffield United.

Done joined the Blades on transfer deadline day, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The 26-year-old says it was a tough decision to make, but it was an opportunity that he couldn’t turn down.

“I’ve loved every minute at this football club and I've loved working with the Gaffer and the lads, but I felt at my age that I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to go and play for a club the size of Sheffield United,” said Done.

“It was hard decision to make but I thought the timing was right. People were telling me to wait until the summer but I’ve been there before in football where things don’t always work out for the best, so considering my age and the opportunity that arose, from a personal view and a professional view, I just couldn’t turn it down.”

He continued: “I’d like to thank every single one of the fans [for their support during both spells at the club]. I’ve had messages non-stop since yesterday through social media and from people getting in touch with me to wish me all the best - it has been overwhelming.

“Being at Rochdale has been the best time in my career without a doubt. I’m getting emotional thinking about it.

“It has been the best and most enjoyable part of my career by a mile and hopefully it leaves the door open for me to one day coming back and playing here.”
