Manager Keith Hill has bolstered his squad further ahead of the start of the new season by securing the services of former Dale Matty Done.
The 24-year-old has penned a 12-month-deal with the club in a move which sees him re-united with Hill.
Done spent a season at Spotland working under Hill during the 2010/11 campaign before following the Gaffer to Barnsley in the summer of 2011.
He will wear squad number 16 for the forthcoming season.
On securing Done's services, Hill commented: “I’m absolutely over the moon about the signing, it’s a superb signing for the Football Club.
“Myself and Matty have a recent history and he has a history with Rochdale Football Club. He had other options but we’ve struck a deal for him to play with Rochdale. He gives me so many options and I’m really pleased that he’s committed initially for one year. For me he’s a Championship player and I didn’t want to hold him to ransom with respect to the length of his contract so I had to be open minded on that one.”
Hill continued: “He’s got pace to burn, he’s really exciting as a player and it’s up to Matty and myself to re-establish him to what I believe is at least a Championship player.
“I would like to thank the Chairman and the Board of Directors for backing me in my pursuit of trying to assemble a squad that is capable of taking on League Two.
Welcome back to Spotland, Matty!
