Beech: Objective Achieved

3 March 2014

Assistant Manager Chris Beech spoke to Dale Player following Saturday’s win over Oxford United.

Beech said: “There’s no big drama; it’s football and it’s three points. There are 13 games left and we know what we want to do but we have to earn the right to get that. From now until the end of the season we’ll make sure that the attitude and ethics of this squad stays consistent to those thoughts.

“Since the lads went away to Tenerife in pre-season they have been committed to the way we want to work, they’re right behind that, they’ve got a relationship with the way we work and they want to play the way that we play. When we get it right on days like to today, and when get an ascendancy on the game, it’s hard to play against, and Oxford found them last 20 minutes very, very difficult.

“Our objective was to go and get three points and we’ve done that, now we’ve got another good game to look forward to on Friday.”

On Scott Hogan’s hat-trick, Beech commented: “It’s his second hat-trick since Christmas, unbelievable! It’s amazing what’s happened since the [January transfer] window shut. He’s concentrated, he’s committed and he’s doing ever so well now his mind is clear and it’s evident in his performances.”
