Beech: Supporters Were Tremendous

9 September 2013

Assistant Manager Chris Beech has praised fans for their support during Saturday's derby match v Bury.

Speaking after the game, he told Dale Player: "It definitely means something to the players and it means something to myself and Keith. We were representing the supporters and the town today, and I thought the supporters were tremendous. We know how important it is and we could see a bit of nerves in the lads. It was a case of trying to relax whilst sticking to the task – we wanted competitive composure and we got it in the end.

"Going to ten men can sometimes force the opposition into a false sense of security having the extra man and it poses the question of how good you are with the ball. We thought we’d allow the centre halves to have the football, using two banks of four to engage in and around the half way line to try and nullify any passing opportunities through our team, and thought we did that today."
