BBM Extends Playing Career

5 July 2015

As most of you may have guessed by now, player-coach Brian Barry-Murphy isn’t quite ready to go into retirement and has extended his playing career by another year.

The 36-year-old signed a new twelve month playing contract during the close season, meaning he is registered for the 2015-16 season, in addition to his first-team coaching duties.

“He’s in really good shape,” said Manager Keith Hill.

“He’s in a very, very good place physically and he understands the game mentally. I think he appreciates the position that he’s in as football player and as a first team coach with added responsibilities.

“He can play the game that I expect to him to play on the training pitch and I think he’s a good sounding board for a lot of the players. If there are any questions that need to be asked and they don’t really want to ask me, which can happen, then they can got to him.

“For me, he’s a great football player/ coach to have in the squad.”
