Millbrook Rename Ground To Honour Reg

1 April 2014

The late, great Reg Jenkins has been honoured by his local football club, with Millbrook AFC renaming their ground in memory of the Dale legend.

Family, friends and Millbrook AFC members gathered at the newly named Jenkins Park last month as the tribute was revealed.

Reg was born in Millbrook, and after short spells with Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City, he joined Torquay United before signing for Rochdale. He still holds Dale’s goal scoring record of 119 goals from 305 games.

While recuperating from a knee operation in Tenerife last January, Reg passed away in January 2013 at the age of 74.

Reg was a regular visitor at Millbrook AFC offering his services at every opportunity - his last act was to re-open the refurbished changing facilities in 2012.
