The Youth Team’s impressive run of form continued on Saturday with a 5-0 win over Preston North End.
The result sees them unbeaten in 2017, having won four and drawn one of their five fixtures since the start of the year, scoring 15 goals and conceding just one.
At the weekend, a young youth team side lined up against the Lilywhites, with two under 16s named in the starting eleven.
The deadlock was broken in the 23rd minute when the hosts, Preston North End, turned the ball into their own net at the near post from a dangerous delivery.
Four minutes later, David Owusu doubled Dale’s advantage, firing into the bottom corner of the net from a tight angle.
From a long throw-in, Joe Piggott added a third on the stroke of half-time with a stunning finish. After latching on to the ball, he curled his effort into the top corner of the net from the edge of the area.
Shortly after the hour mark, Owusu bagged his second of the game, netting in a similar fashion to his first.
Before the match was out, Preston North End scored another own goal, bundling a ball in from the left over the line.
