The Result Gives Us An Opportunity Going Into The Last Game - Keith Hill

23 April 2017

Manager Keith Hill reflects on his side’s 1-1 draw with Oldham Athletic…

The result means Dale are still in the hunt for a play-off place going into the final game of the season, something which pleases the Gaffer.

“I thought we put in professional performance today,” said Hill.

“We could have been more goals to the advantage in the first half if we had been a bit more clinical, but I can’t and I won’t complain about their equaliser.

“It’s a fair result, if I’m being perfectly honest.

“And it gives us an opportunity.

“We’re still chasing something going into the last game, and after 45 games we’ve still got an outside chance, of not only achieving our best ever points total in League One, but also getting into the play-offs.

“I’m pleased that we’re still in it going into the last game of the season. Who would have thought we would still have had an opportunity of invading the top six after 45 games! It’s exciting. The players are excited and I’m excited.

“We’ll have a positive week and we’ll go into the Bradford game full of confidence and commitment, and we’ll try to get the job done.”

Calvin Andrew, Joe Bunney and Keith Keane were all substituted during the match and as Hill explains, the changes were enforced.

“Calvin’s got a little bit of a groin problem, and I had to make the change. I also had to make the change with Keith Keane and Joe Bunney.

“When we were playing against Coventry and Bury, I made positive substitutes to reinforce what we’re trying to do at that particular time, whereas today, I’m having to make enforced substitutions because of injuries. It was difficult for me to have to make those substitutions.”
