Keith Hill's Pre-Match Quotes - Coventry City

21 October 2016

Rochdale are on the road this weekend, as Keith Hill’s side make the trip to Coventry to face the Sky Blues at the Ricoh Arena.

The game is Dale’s second away trip in four days, after the midweek fixture at Swindon Town.

Rochdale fell to their first defeat in ten games on Tuesday night and Hill says he has drawn a line under that result.

“The players will respond and the staff will respond,” Hill told Dale PlayerHD.

“I think it's a real sense of reality about just how difficult League One is. We don’t take anything for granted, and league position doesn’t reflect player potential or team potential.

“We’ve been in super form and super spirit and that will continue.”

Dale were successful in their appeal against the red card shown to Joe Bunney in Tuesday night’s game and Hill believes justice has been done.

“It gives me a little bit of belief in the justice system.

“There was no justice in Joe getting sent off on Tuesday, none whatsoever.

"Thankfully the powers that be have seen the footage and made the right decision. I’m really thankful that they’ve done that because Joe is in good form and he didn’t deserve to get sent off.”

Dale head to the Ricoh Arena to face a Coventry City who have yet to be beaten at home this season.

Hill is expecting a difficult encounter.

“Coventry City are steeped in heritage, tradition and success. They’re a big, big football club in League One. They’re going through times of adversity results wise but the fact of the matter is that it shouldn't make an impact over 90 minutes.

“Sometimes you need to make a change to get the best performances and results from a group of players and they’ve done that. I think Mark Venus [caretaker manager] is doing a great job and they’re benefiting from Mark’s input. We’ve never under estimated anyone in this league and we won’t start underestimating Coventry. They’re a big, big fish so don’t let that be underestimated.

“The fact of the matter is that they’re superseding us by a country mile when it comes to this year’s budget. But that gets lost in the wash with respect to how well we’re doing with respect to the finances that we’ve got. We don’t compare financially, but it’s important that we at least match them over 90 minutes. That’s our philosophy and our strategy – we’re trying to match every team on matchday over 90/ 95 minutes.”
