Keith Hill Stresses The Importance Of Being Vocal

25 July 2016

Supporters who have attended this year’s pre-season friendlies will have noticed a very vocal manager Keith Hill on the touchline.

Speaking in his post-match interview after Saturday’s game against Wigan Athletic, he explained why.

“It looks like I’m going to be doing it for most of the season because you need to be vocal in your support of your team as a player, and I don’t think we’ve got enough of that.

“But if it comes from me and it’s accepted by the players, then it’s something I’m prepared to do.

“It’s something that needs to be done as far as I’m concerned because we want positive performances. The players know me and they know that it’s coming from the right place and that it’s not meant to be offence towards anybody.

“I’m trying to get my message across and improve standards, and if I embarrass myself by being vocal then I’m afraid I’m going to have to accept the embarrassment.”

He added: “The reason why I’m extra loud with Jim McNulty isn’t because he’s getting told off, it’s because he’s got a problem with his hearing.

“He had an operation over the summer that didn’t quite go according to plan.”
