Rochdale dominated through-out the match with both of the Sky Blues’ goals coming against the run of play.
Hill admits he’s disappointed that Dale were unable to capitalise on their 19 shots at goal.
“I thought we performed well today," he told Dale PlayerHD.
"I was really upset with the performance against Swindon on Tuesday night and I understood the result, but not today when you’re playing well like that and you gift the opposition in both penalty areas.
“We were negligent in front of goal. We had 19 attempts but only 5 on target and we’ve allowed them to score two very, very basic sloppy goals, especially the first goal when we were playing so well.
“I can understand the second one from a different scenario because we were pressing and we knew that they have counter-attacking abilities.
“We have to be game effective for 90-95 minutes, concentration levels have to be better in front of the opposition goal and in front of our goal, because the slightest mini-mistake has cost us today.”
He added: “We are constantly working on progress, and we have to be. My players have to be at their best in every single game, regardless of whoever we’re playing against. Concentration levels have to be high and our game effectiveness has to be better than it was today because if it was, then we get something from that game today.
“We should be scoring goals today – we’ve created more opportunities today than we have done in the last two matches that we’ve played here when we won 1-0 and drew 2-2, so I’m disappointed that we haven’t scored. It’s very difficult to continue keeping clean sheets but the first goal today was school boy.
“I’m disappointed that we’ve played well and didn’t get anything from the game because of our own undoing.”
