Rochdale Football Club would like to thank everyone who attended last week’s Schools Cup event.
Nearly three hundred children from primary schools in Rochdale took part in event. Taking place over two days, 37 teams entered the competition and had a fantastic day out, with the youngsters enjoying their opportunity to play on the Crown Oil Arena pitch.
The winners were:
Year 1: Hopwood Primary School
Year 2: All Souls Primary School
Year 3: All Souls Primary School
Year 4: Meanwood Primary School
Organised by the Rochdale AFC Academy and Dale in the Community Trust, the football festival was launched for the first time last year for Year 1 pupils. This year, the invitation was extended to Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 pupils.
The event is designed to give local children the chance to say ‘I played at the Crown Oil Arena!’ It also provides Dale’s Academy with the opportunity to spot the most talented footballers in Rochdale and the chance to promote the club's educational and physical activity pathways, and the club’s community ethos.
All players who took part received a medal.
